Founded in 2005 by John Metelerkamp, what began as a small gas appliance business has grown into Knysna’s go-to destination for premium kitchenware and home essentials.

The store’s transformation truly took shape when John’s wife, Avril, joined the team. Her eye for design and love of premium, branded products helped turn Metelerkamps into the inspiring lifestyle destination it is today. 

In addition to our exceptional range of kitchen and homeware, Metelerkamps is a trusted specialist in closed combustion wood and pellet burners — expertly supplying and installing these sought-after heating solutions. Our skill, dedication, and passion have made us one of the leading fireplace suppliers and installers in the Garden Route Area.

On September 1st, 2025, Metelerkamps was officially acquired by Mr. André du Preez, Mr. Craig Nelson, and Mr. Herman Odendaal, with André du Preez stepping into our founder John Metelerkamp’s primary role in the fireplace division. Avril is staying on and will continue delivering the exceptional work she’s renowned for.
